Robbie Farr & Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil win 1st round of
World Series Sprint Cars
Farr & ECPR, The Start Was Good, The End Was Great, But The Middle!
The title sums it all up, you think that starting the night of round 1 of World Series Sprintcars with quick time and the topping it off with a feature win that we had an easy night, but let me tell you about the middle part of the evening.
Getting Quick time right off the bat & will pill number 1 was just the start the team needed to get this series off the ground, so back in the pits the team & I were looking forward to solid results in the heats to set ourselves up for a good start in the final. Heat 1 we started out of 10th & moving forward quite nicely, on the last lap Farr came off turn 4th looking to gain a few more places before the finish line only to get tagged & turned straight into the wall, Farr managed to keep the momentum of the car going and keep his foot fairly planted hard to get the car across the line to finish in 8th position, picking up very valuable points. Heat 2 was more of a simple plan, finish & gain points towards the final.
So from that point it was a massive task for Speedy, Brad & Michael to get the ECPR/#7 Eagle back on the track for heat 2, the ECPR team were overwhelmed with help & support while working on the car to make it out in time for heat 2, Brad Hilder ,Paul Gisslingham were awesome in their efforts to repair the #7 Eagle & to add to that the assistance from Bingo & the Titan team in lending us some very valuable parts to make it out for heat 2 in time. Robbie Farr & The ECPR Team cannot thank everyone for their help in making the #7 somewhat drivable again, at one stage Robbie said he looked up and there were people on every corner of the car doing something. Robbie said to me today “This win is if for the boys, they really deserves this, now it is up to me to continue going forward & win this WSS deal”
Robbie started out or 4th position, he felt it would have been tough from there with the repaired car & handling conditions he was dealt with but on lap 1 pole sitter Dave Murcott took a tumble giving Robbie a front row on the restart, from there the ECPR outfit was never headed, with a flag to flag victory setting up the series in the perfect fashion.
